Commissioning

Your system will come to life when the installation is completed. During commissioning, our employees monitor and check the performance and functionality of your plant components and ensure reliable handover of the project.

Basically, a distinction should be made between recommissioning, e.g. after an overhaul, and initial commissioning. The latter is much more complex and plays a key role in the life cycle of the plant as a link between plant assembly and continuous operation. During this (initial) commissioning, our range of services covers all project phases from preparation for commissioning, cold and warm commissioning, through to acceptance and handover to the operator:

Preparation for commissioning

It is a general rule: The earlier we can contribute our knowledge and experience, the more efficiently solution and cost potentials can be exploited. Ideally, therefore, experienced commissioning engineers should be called in as early as the plant planning and installation stages in order to avoid unnecessary additional costs at little outlay. Alternatively, we can of course also offer you qualified (technical) site management with relevant commissioning experience.

We therefore recommend including the many years of expertise of our commissioning engineers at the latest during the system checks based on the P&I diagrams, the as-built documentation and, last but not least, during the final installation checks. Experience has shown that this not only allows formal comparison of the target and actual state of the plant assembly, but also the identification and elimination of commissioning and operation-specific deficiencies.

In close coordination with all project participants, we also take over the detailed scheduling of the commissioning, if necessary, and monitor compliance at regular intervals.

Cold and warm commissioning

The central task of cold commissioning is the function test of the entire plant by means of individual and group tests, which are fully documented in logs and checklists. The plant is ready for operation as soon as all systems comply with the official approvals and legal requirements. In addition, we also frequently perform a cold commissioning with inert media.

In warm commissioning, the plant is started up for the first time under operating conditions. In this process, we stabilize and optimize the operation of the plant so that the contractually agreed performance parameters are achieved and the usability of the plant in continuous operation is guaranteed.

Parallel to commissioning, intensive and practical training of the future operating personnel by our experienced experts has proven its worth. In addition to the protection of health and avoidance of injury, we provide extensive knowledge of the system and an understanding of the interrelationships so that each individual can maintain safe operation in any situation according to the technical possibility. Another task of this phase is the writing of the operating manuals.

Trial operation and acceptance test

In order to demonstrate stable and defect-free operation, what is called trial operation takes place at the end of the warm commissioning. Although not officially handed over to the operator at this point, the plant is usually run by company personnel. Ideally, our staff will only provide support and advice during trial operation.

In contrast to trial operation, the acceptance test or performance run is relatively short. In the process, we organize, coordinate and carry out acceptance measurements, which are intended to provide legally binding proof of the contractually assured performance of the overall plant. Commissioning is considered successfully completed as soon as the legally binding proof of performance has been provided, the final acceptance protocol has been signed by the plant supplier and operator, and the plant has been handed over.

Of course, our range of services does not end with the completion of commissioning. You can always rely on us as a reliable partner for the repair of any remaining defects, for support during the usually two-year warranty period, or for comprehensive services in the future.
